Avengeful man stabs cousin

LUDHIANA: A 29-year-old resident of Lajpant Nagar area was allegedly killed by his cousin, who wanted to avenge the insult to his girl friend. Police said Raman Kapur alias Kapu harboured a grudge against Aman who had reportedly passed derogatory remarks against his girl friend.
The incident which came to light on September 30 happened a week before. According to police, the accused, a resident of Daba, confessed to the crime on Sunday night.
Earlier on September 23, police received a complaint from Satpal Kapoor, a resident of Lajpat Nagar that his elder son Aman alias Bunty had gone missing. Police initially lodged a missing complaint but failed to get any clue. Later when his family members started looking for Aman, the accused who is a resident of Daba also joined them. However, soon they grew suspicious about his behaviour. But after some days Aman's father noticed the behaviour of Raman quite suspicious, which he reported to police.
"After Satpal Singh came to us and disclosed about his suspicion, we picked him up and questioned him on September 30. After sustained questioning, he confessed to the crime. The accused mentioned that he took help of his friend, Sher Singh, a resident of Shimlapuri, in killing Aman and disposing of his body," said Station House Officer, Division no 5, Nirmal Singh.
According to police the accused Raman claimed that the deceased Aman had made derogatory remarks against his girlfriend following which he wanted to take revenge from him. Deciding to take revenge, the accused along with his friend Sher Singh hatched a plot to kill him.
Police claimed when Raman, who was into black magic came to know that his cousin Aman was desperate to befriend a girl, he found a way to take revenge.
"Raman, who also practiced black magic, told Aman that he would perform some rituals which would guarantee that he gets the girl he desires. The accused told him to accompany him nearby a canal. Aman readily agreed and on September 23 the accused along with his friend took him near a canal in village Kaind, around 15km away from city.
"On their way to canal they purchased some grains from a shop for rituals. When they reached the canal Raman asked Aman to close his eyes and throw the grains into the canal. When Aman closed his eyes, Raman stood up and stabbed him with a sharp edged weapon. Later with the help of Sher Singh, he threw the body in to the canal," police said.
The police however are yet to recover the body from the canal. tnn
